Hi Erin,

I just tried calling your office and spoke with Sylvia. She transferred me to your voicemail. I left a message for you and am also following up with this email.

My name is Leah Smith and I am with ADAPT. ADAPT has recently sent you information about the Disability Integration Act (HR 555), but we have not heard back from you and Congressman Ruiz has not signed onto the Disability Integration Act yet. ADAPT will be in town next week and we would prefer to stop by your office to thank Congressman Ruiz for his support.

Please feel free to call me back at 806.239.5582 or respond to this email to confirm that you have received this message and our emails requesting Congressman Ruiz to cosponsor the Disability Integration Act.

On 5/6 Sophie Poost sent the following email to Erin Doty:

Good Afternoon,

A few ADAPT members met with your office in regards to the Disability Integration Act (HR.555) about a month ago and felt the meeting was productive. I was hoping I could take a moment of your time to ask if there has been further consideration as to whether Congressman Ruiz will be cosponsoring the Disability Integration Act and when that may be. The act currently has 139 cosponsors in the house, including 12 California Representatives. I am attaching our 1-pager as a refresher on the bill. If you have any questions feel free to contact me or reach out to Amy Bos in Representative Sensenbrenner???s office to be added. We would love to see Representative Ruiz join the list of cosponsors today!

Thank you for your time,

Sophie Poost

Visited office. Left packet for Erin.

Good Afternoon Ms. Doty,

I'm writing to follow up on my visit to Congressman Ruiz's office today. I came to follow up on several other visits the Disability Community has made to your office about the Disability Integration Act (HR2472). I left a packet at your office for you to review today and I have also attached it electronically.

The Disability Integration Act is a bill that would protect the lives and liberty of elderly and disabled Americans by ensuring their right to live in the community. Right now, many insurance companies will only cover long term services and supports in nursing facilities instead of allowing people to receive services in their own home. The Disability Integration Act would require that insurers offer options to people who need long term services and supports so that no one is unwillingly placed in a nursing home.

We are asking Congressman Ruiz to cosponsor the Disability Integration Act before session ends. Furthermore, we are anticipating an early reintroduction in January and we would love for Congressman Ruiz to commit to cosponsoring next session.

I will be on the Hill tomorrow morning and would be happy to meet with you about the bill if you have time.

Thanks,

Stephanie Woodward

On September 6, 2018, ADAPT member Cal Montgomery dropped by. Erin Doty was not available. Spoke to Alexis Sandoval-Uribe (male) the health fellow. Left information. Stressed bipartisanship, freedom, medical outcomes (Ruiz is an ER doctor) and senior and veterans issues. Seemed receptive. Alexis promised to try to attend MFP briefing later today.
