On or about December 3, 2019, Dawn, Jackie and Jordan (Denver) and Katy C. by phone met with Andrew, the Chief of Staff. Andrew said he did "not want to be that person telling us how to do our advocacy." He noted that Pallone's staffer would likely tell him to "eff off." He asserted that his office knew exactly what they were signing on to, contrary to what Pallone's staff claimed. He said, "Just because the world isn't designed for you doesn't mean we shouldn't make it so."Cautioned that a discharge petition is provocative. Wondered about a letter to sign on to and create pressure. Dawn mentioned Lamborn.

Hi Christina,

I am reaching out to ask if Representative Maloney will cosponsor the Disability Integration Act again. The DIA was reintroduced last week as HR. 555 (and in the Senate it was introduced by Minority Leader Schumer as S. 117). The bill is both bicameral and bipartisan, and already has 52 cosponsors in the House. Last session Rep. Maloney cosponsored the bill, then known as HR 2472. The bill is substantially the same with minor technical edits which were suggested by AARP.

Will Representative Maloney cosponsor DIA?

Justin Young emailed both the Executive Directors of the Brooklyn Center for Independent Living (BCIL) & Center for Independence of the Disabled of New York (CIDNY) to collaborate with their Advocacy staff to urge Representative Maloney to co-sponsor the DIA.

On August 30th, 2018, C4CI sent an email to Christina Parisi (Christina.Parisi@mail.house.gov.) asking why is not a cosponsor of DIA and whether the representative would commit to being an initial co-sponsor of DIA if elected to the next Congress.

On May 17th, ADAPT members - as part of the Spring Action Hill Day - provided the office with information about the Disability Integration Act and asked that the Member of Congress cosponsor this legislation.

On April 13, 2016 ADAPT members - as part of the Spring Action Hill Day - provided the office with information about the Disability Integration Act which has already been introduced in the US Senate and asked that the Member of Congress become initial cosponsor this legislation in the House.
