sent the following thank-you note to Rep. Cleaver's office 6/5/2019:
Dear Representative Cleaver;
I was so pleased to see your name included in the newest list of co-sponsors for the Disability Integration Act, HR555.
I look forward to your successful re-election campaign this fall. Your leadership on this critical issue of civil rights for people with disabilities is a strong counter-point to the policies and positions of the opposing candidate. The disability community hopes to be able to highlight your position on this important issue to support your successful candidacy.
Thank you.
Ami

E-mail message sent to Christina for the Rep. 6/4/2019:
Dear Representative Cleaver;
I have recently received a barrage of emails asking for support against your Republican challenger in the upcoming Congressional race. I certainly wish you the best as you confront this challenge. As a Northeast Kansas resident, I have been a fan for a long time of your leadership in the Metro Kansas City area.
I am asking you to show leadership on the civil rights of people with disabilities by signing on as a co-sponsor of the Disability Integration Act, HR555. This is landmark civil rights legislation for people with disabilities.
The promises of the Americans with Disabilities Act cannot be fulfilled for people trapped behind the walls of institutions. HR 555, the Disability Integration Act, will further ???tear down the shameful walls of exclusion??? by reinforcing the right for people with disabilities to live in the most integrated setting, and by building a framework for ensuring our communities offer meaningful access, services and supports.
It would be wonderful to see your co-sponsorship of the Disability Integration Act and the civil rights of all people with disabilities. To sign up to co-sponsor the bill, please contact Amy.Bos@mail.house.gov
Thank you.

On May 14th, Sophie Poost called the office and was sent to Christina Mahoney's voicemail, where she left a message asking that the Rep. cosponsor the DIA. She then sent a follow up email shown below:
Hello Christina,
I just left you a voicemail regarding the Disability Integration Act or DIA, but I wanted to also send an email to ensure that the message made it to you. ADAPT has send several emails to you in the past few weeks, but we have not heard back from you and Congressman Cleaver has not signed onto the Disability Integration Act yet. It is imperative that you review the emails that ADAPT has sent you. ADAPT will be in town next week and we would prefer to stop by your office to thank Representative Cleaver for his support.
Please call me back at 585-546-7510 or respond to me email to confirm you have received this email and our other emails requesting Congressman Cleaver cosponsor the Disability Integration Act.
Thank you for your time,
Sophie Poost
