Shantelle sent the following email
Braden,
I wanted to follow up from a meeting we had with Kyle last month regarding Congressman McCarthy signing on to DIA as a Co-Sponsor.

I am emailing to ask Congressman McCarthy to support H.R. 555, the Disability Integration Act. We are steadily approaching 160 Co Sponsors on this great bi-partisan legislation. DIA will ensure the right of Disabled Americans to receive long term services and supports in the least restrictive setting, as set forth by the Olmsted decision. Having the freedom, dignity, and true choice is at the heart of this bill. We hope to extend that freedom to all the citizens of California.

There is no opposition to this bill. It is supported by the entire Disability Community including Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Arc, Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living, the Consortium of Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), the Lutheran Services in America Disability Network, and the National Council on Aging. If you have any question about the bill, please reach out to Amy Bos with Congressman Sensenbrenner's office.

Please email with any questions. Let's show that all of California supports the civil rights of Disabled Americans.

Thank You

ADAPT presented the letters from the NDLA and Coalition for Community Integration. We spoke to Kyle Lombardi, McCarthy's LD. Seemed genuinely interested. Following up in a week.

On May 16th, ADAPT met with Zac Houston, staff assistant. He was not familiar with HCBS Services, was impressed with CAP, Heritage, and AARP support. Zac agreed to pass information on to Braden Murphy, Legislative Assistant. Follow up with Braden at braden.murphy@mail.house.gov
