The following thank you email was sent 5/29/19:

We wanted to thank you for your reception staff???s brief time with us May 16th to discuss the Disability Integration Act (HR 555). We appreciate the time and we most definitely appreciate Congresswoman Stevens??? co-sponsorship of this landmark civil rights legislation for people with disabilities.

The promises of the Americans with Disabilities Act cannot be fulfilled for people trapped behind the walls of institutions. HR 555, the Disability Integration Act, will further ???tear down the shameful walls of exclusion??? by reinforcing the right for people with disabilities to live in the most integrated setting, and by building a framework for ensuring our communities offer meaningful access, services and supports.

We look forward to Congressman Stevens??? continued support of the Disability Integration Act and the civil rights of all people with disabilities.

Thank you.

Susan Aarup, Jennifer McPhail and Ami Hyten visited the office but staff were too
busy to meet at all. The young man from the front desk took copious notes
and assured us he would make sure someone with authority would receive it and respond. We assured him we would be back to check on the issue. Packet left and contact information exchanged.

On 1/2/19 E Jones emailed the campaign email:

"Congratulations on your victory in the recent election and welcome to Congress. I am writing on behalf of the Disability Community to ask you to become an original cosponsor of the Disability Integration Act. The Disability Integration Act is bicameral, bipartisan legislation that guarantees the rights of disabled Americans to live in freedom by ensuring our right to receive services in our own homes. If you have any questions about the bill I am happy to answer them or you are welcome to look at our web site: http://www.disabilityintegrationact.org/.

We are holding an event in the U.S. Capitol on January 15th to celebrate the bill???s reintroduction. We would like to announce you as an original cosponsor of the bill at the event. Would you please confirm your intention to be an original cosponsor on the legislation? We would be grateful for your leadership in helping ensure that all disabled Americans have the right to live in freedom."
