Sophie Poost sent the following email on 3/20 to Natalie King and Laila Goharioon:

Good Morning,

I work with the national disability rights group, ADAPT, which has a chapter in Georgia, and I wanted to check in and see if any decision had been made about Congresswoman McBath???s stance on the Disability Integration Act. I believe you have had previous correspondence with other advocates and activists, but in case you wanted a refresher I have attached a quick one pager to this email.

The Representative???s support for the legislation feels especially pertinent right now, during Women???s History Month, as women are disproportionately impacted by the issues this bill addresses. Women in general live longer than men, which means they are more likely to become disabled in their later years. Additionally, women are more likely to work as attendants or take on informal/voluntary caregiver roles which means many women are underpaid or unpaid for their efforts???an issue that would be directly addressed by this legislation. Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to a video (Found here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2264341197187573) released last month by Stacey Abrams addressing the imperative nature of passing the Disability Integration Act this Congress. Based on Representative McBath???s dedication to social justice and civil rights, I believe this legislation is in line with her fundamental beliefs and is grounded in the same work she is dedicated to.

Please take some time to look over what I have sent you, and if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me or if the Representative is interested in cosponsorship reach out to Amy Bos in Representative Sensenbrenner???s office.

Thank you for your time,
Sophie Poost

E. Jones sent an email to Legislative Counsel Natalie Knight to follow up with the 1/11 hill visit. Ms. Knight informed her that Health LA Laila Goharioon (Laila.Goharioon@mail.house.gov) had just been hired. "We hope to take a look soon"

Ericka Jones writes on 1/10/2019 at 3:13PM:
E. Jones visited this office on 1/8. There was not legislative staff set up yet but she left a one pager and was told they would look at the bill.

Ericka Jones writes on 1/03/2019 at 11:46AM:
On 1/2/19 E Jones emailed the campaign email:

"Congratulations on your victory in the recent election and welcome to Congress. I am writing on behalf of the Disability Community to ask you to become an original cosponsor of the Disability Integration Act. The Disability Integration Act is bicameral, bipartisan legislation that guarantees the rights of disabled Americans to live in freedom by ensuring our right to receive services in our own homes. If you have any questions about the bill I am happy to answer them or you are welcome to look at our web site: http://www.disabilityintegrationact.org/.

We are holding an event in the U.S. Capitol on January 15th to celebrate the bill???s reintroduction. We would like to announce you as an original cosponsor of the bill at the event. Would you please confirm your intention to be an original cosponsor on the legislation? We would be grateful for your leadership in helping ensure that all disabled Americans have the right to live in freedom."
