On February 13, got a commitment from his legislative correspondent. Specifically, Sophie Poost sent the following email to Erik Sperling and Will McKelvey:

Hello Erik and Will,

I am a member of the disability rights group, ADAPT, and I am hoping to get in contact with someone in your office in regards to Representative Khanna???s stance on the Disability Integration Act in the 116th Congress. The Disability Integration Act (also known as DIA) is a bill that would ensure the civil rights of Disabled people by asserting their right to choose where and how they live. The DIA was introduced almost a month ago in the House (HR.555) by Representative Sensenbrenner and in the Senate (S.117) by Senator Chuck Schumer. It has already garnered 84 cosponsors in the House including Representatives Waters and Ocasio-Cortez and Senators Warren and Sanders. We would love to see Congressman Khanna on as a cosponsor for this iteration of the bill which is largely unchanged from the previous version. I have attached basic information about the bill to refresh your memories.

If you have questions please feel free to reach out to me or Amy Bos in Representative Sensenbrenner???s office. Will Representative Khanna be a co-sponsor of the Disability Integration Act in this Congress?

Thanks,
Sophie Poost

An hour later Will McKelvey responded with:

Hi Sophie,

Thanks for flagging this! Rep. Khanna will again be a cosponsor of the bill.

Best,
Will

On January 29, Sophie Poost sent the following email:

Hello Erik,

I???m a member of the national grassroots disability rights group, ADAPT. A few of our members have made stops at your office a few weeks ago in regards to the Disability Integration Act (DIA or HR. 555), however you were unavailable at the time. Representative Khanna was previously a co-sponsor of the DIA and we would love to see him co-sponsor the legislation once more. The bill was reintroduced on January 15th and ensures that people with disabilities are given the right to decide where and how they live their lives. I have attached information on the Disability Integration Act and hope to hear from you soon. Please feel free to reach out to me or Amy Bos in Representative Sensenbrenner???s office with any questions you may have in regards to the bill.

Thanks,
Sophie Poost

On January 17th, Sophie Poost, Ericka Jones, and Colleen Flanagan stopped by the office and asked to meet with a staffer. They were told no one was available to meet with them. They left information and were told to follow up with either Will McKelvey or Erik Sperling.

On July 24, Sheri Burns and other NCIL advocates met with Will McKelvey. They felt the meeting with well and they will likely co-sign/support the DIA. They will check back for firm commitment in 2 weeks.
