Thank you note was emailed to Colleen 6/4/19:

Dear Colleen;

We wanted to thank you for the time you spent with us May 20th to discuss the Disability Integration Act (HR 555). We appreciate your time and we most definitely appreciate Congressman Bera???s co-sponsorship of this landmark civil rights legislation for people with disabilities.

The promises of the Americans with Disabilities Act cannot be fulfilled for people trapped behind the walls of institutions. HR 555, the Disability Integration Act, will further ???tear down the shameful walls of exclusion??? by reinforcing the right for people with disabilities to live in the most integrated setting, and by building a framework for ensuring our communities offer meaningful access, services and supports.

We look forward to Congressman Bera???s continued support of the Disability Integration Act and the civil rights of all people with disabilities.

Thank you.

We met with Colleen Nguyen. The bill had been on Congressman Bera's radar for a while and they had started looking at it prior to our visit. We told her we wanted to have a hearing in May and marked up and through the House by July 26th. She was concerned about lack of choice since people spend their savings getting into Medicaid. She was also interested that AARP endorsed our bill. We will be emailing her to follow up to see how we can get to a Yes and check in on again on Thursday

Erin O???Quinn Dep COS, Erin.O???Quinn@mail.house.gov . Listened, wants info. They will not do anything until after the election. They do not tend to do anything in pro forma so follow up after the election.
