Message and Talking Points
Sophie Poost writes on 5/15/2019 at 12:04PM:
On 5/15/19, Sophie Poost called the office and left a message with Gabrielle. She asked about the bill and encouraged Sophie to send an email to both Leighton Huch and Steffanie Bezruki. Sophie sent the following email with a copy of the language comparison:
I called the office moments ago on behalf of ADAPT and left a message with Gabrielle, who encouraged me to follow up via email to both of you. In the past few weeks, ADAPT sent several emails to you, Leighton, about the Disability Integration Act (HR.555), but we have not heard back from your office and Congresswoman Bustos has not signed onto the Disability integration Act in this Congress despite previously cosponsoring in the last Congress. Attached to this email you will see a language comparison from the version Rep. Bustos was a cosponsor of to the current iteration. It is essential that you review the language and the emails that ADAPT sent, and if there is confusion, I would be happy to forward them on. ADAPT will be in town next week and we would prefer to stop by your office to thank Congresswoman Bustos for her support.
Please respond to my email or call me back at 585-546-7510 to confirm you have received this message as well as our previous emails requesting Rep. Bustos cosponsor the Disability Integration Act.
Thank you for your time,

1/30 sent the following email to Leighton Huch:
I stopped by your office a few weeks ago, but you were unavailable at the time so I just wanted to send an email to follow up. I am reaching out to ask if Representative Bustos will cosponsor the Disability Integration Act again. The DIA was reintroduced on January 15th as HR. 555 (and in the Senate it was introduced by Minority Leader Schumer as S. 117). The bill is both bicameral and bipartisan, and already has 92 cosponsors in the House. Last session Rep. Bustos cosponsored the bill, then known as HR 2472. The bill is substantially the same with minor technical edits which were suggested by AARP. I???m attaching basic information of the bill as a brief overview.
Will Representative Bustos cosponsor DIA?
