Hi Dana,

I am reaching out to ask if Representative Lowey will cosponsor the Disability Integration Act again. The DIA was reintroduced last week as HR. 555 (and in the Senate it was introduced by Minority Leader Schumer as S. 117). The bill is both bicameral and bipartisan, and already has 52 cosponsors in the House. Last session Rep. Lowey cosponsored the bill, then known as HR 2472. The bill is substantially the same with minor technical edits which were suggested by AARP.

To cosponsor the bill, please contact Amy Bos at Congressman Sensenbrenner???s office.

Will Representative Lowey cosponsor DIA?

Thanks,

Stephanie Woodward, J.D.
Co-chair of the Disability Integration Act Workgroup

1/16/19: Visited the office with Anita Cameron and spoke with one of the staffers. He said that Congresswoman Lowey is elected House Appropriations Committee Chair. Confused when he mentioned that this could prevent her to cosponsor DIA. He gave us Dana Miller Action's contact.

On August 30th, 2018, C4CI sent an email to Dana Miller (dana.miller@mail.house.gov) asking why is not a cosponsor of DIA and whether the representative would commit to being an initial co-sponsor of DIA if elected to the next Congress.

Gregg Beratan and Kathryn Carroll did a drop-in on July 24, 2018 as part of NCIL conference. Was not able to meet with Dana Miller or Jennifer Becker-Pollet. Was suggested to us that Lowey may not be on the bill because she is on appropriations.

June 26, 2018 - Dropped off DIA packet at DC office.

Ellen Taverna writes on 7/05/2018 at 9:46AM:
Stephanie Woodward, Gregg Beratan and Ellen Taverna dropped by Lowey's office on 6/28 and met briefly with Jennifer Becker-Pollet, Legislative Counsel. She recommended we follow up again with Dana Miller Acton, Legislative Director (Dana.Miller@mail.house.gov). She didn't know why Lowey wasn't on DIA - possibly b/c she is on the Appropriations Committee - but the bill isn't scored?
